our first colorado snow!

On Sunday morning during a busy morning at church we had our first real snowfall of the season. It was so beautiful, fresh...and quiet. I love the first snow!

Monday morning we were all up early...ready to get outside and play in the snow!
And Shaun was ready to try out his new shovel. Our driveway didn't have very much snow on it, so he went over to our neighbor's house (across from ours) and shoveled hers for her!
Landon wasn't too sure about this stuff...
And this was before he got snow on his neck. After that things went quickly downhill and we were inside within 10 minutes. So basically it took longer to get dressed than the time we actually spent outside! :)
Landon refused to give me a smile (he was DONE at this point!) but I love how Natalie is posing like a perfect snow princess!
Here's a close-up in case you want a better view. :)
She LOVED it!
I'm sure we will be spending a LOT of time outside during our first Colorado winter...so get ready for a lot of cute snow shots!

the polar express

On Friday evening we got to go on The Polar Express! It was SO much fun...the kids loved it (and the adults did too) and was the perfect way to usher in the Christmas season!

Koen was excited about wearing his Christmas pj's...
Bundled up and waiting for the train...it was COLD!
Tired and cold...
Love this picture!
Cute chubby cheeks.
He loves his Gramma already!
No that is not a robber...Grumpa needed to be extra-bundled up!
The Polar Express is here! It was SO loud.
We have our golden tickets!
Wearing the Santa hat, and waiting for Santa!
Here he is!
Hot chocolate!
Our cute little reindeer giving smiles to his favorite sister.

grumpa's baptism!

We were THRILLED when Paul recently asked Shaun to baptize him while they were out here for Thanksgiving! Shaun was ordained by our church on the 18th, so this was his first "role" as an official pastor! Our church meets in a movie theater so we don't have our own baptismal tank...so we borrowed one at another local church.

thanksgiving 2010

We were all so excited that Paul & Kathy (Shaun's parents) could join us for Thanksgiving weekend! They arrived on Wednesday evening after flying into Farmington, NM, then renting a car and driving up to our place. The kids were so excited to see them!

And we were excited to finally introduce Koen to his Gramma & Grumpa...
Gramma and her THREE grandkids!
Three generations of Sawyers...and all with blue eyes! :)
Koen loved telling Grumpa all about his day...
We went out for a tasty dinner at Mama's Boy, then came home. Kathy and I made her grandma's famous stuffing, and Shaun made a cheesecake for the next day.

On Thursday morning (Thanksgiving Day) the kids were excited to do a Thanksgiving craft with Gramma, who is always prepared to keep the kids busy.

Our big girl...we are growing her bangs out so she suddenly looks so grown up!
Landon, our little lefty...

Painting is too fun!
After the kids had naps, we all sat down to a TASTY thanksgiving dinner!
Thankful.
We also enjoyed teaching Paul how to play Settlers of Catan. Koen had fun watching too! :)

two month check-up

Today Koen had his 2 month check-up with Dr. Zemach. He is 10lbs 5oz (20th percentile), 23 inches long (53rd percentile), and his head is 40.5 cm (63rd percentile).

One of the first things Dr. Zemach asked me was how my milk production is...which is one of the questions I had for him. He was a bit surprised that Koen hasn't gained more weight...I guess exclusively breast fed babies usually exceed the percentile from their last visit, and Koen has stayed around the 20th percentile since he was born. My goal now is to do everything possible to try to increase my milk supply. We have another appointment in a month to re-check his weight and re-evaluate if what I'm doing is working.

Funny enough though, I just checked Landon's stats from his 2 month check-up, and they are only 1 oz different...Landon was 10lbs 6oz at his 2 month! So this makes me feel a little bit better...since Landon HAS turned out pretty good. :)

Koen has a little bit of a cold right now (poor baby!) and his ears had some fluid in them, so the doctor recommended waiting on his immunizations until next week.

koen j - 2 months old!

It's amazing how fast two months can fly by...even in the midst of long days of fussiness, arguing kids, and some sleepless nights. I think it's because we are content - so thankful for our circumstances, our sweet children, and what God has been teaching us.

Koen is so sweet. His smiles and coos each day make any fussiness (almost) disappear. Lately he has been less fussy, which I think has been mostly due to me really trying to get him on a good nap and feeding schedule. Still, some days are better than others.

I am constantly worried I am not giving him enough milk, which I know the worrying is probably only making it worse...so I am trying hard not to do that. I did start drinking a tea called Mother's Milk which is said to help produce better lactation. So we'll see how that goes. Any other advice on producing more milk would be much appreciated! :)

He continues to sleep marvelously at night, which is SO wonderful. Sure makes the long days seem much more bearable!

We have his 2 month check-up tomorrow, so I'll be back with his growth updates. I'm sure that will give me a good idea of if he is or isn't getting enough milk too.

Here's some pics of our littlest man, taken this morning...

Me: Wow, thanks Landon.
Landon: You're welcome!

talk about getting married...already?!!

Here's a cute conversation that happened while making breakfast this morning...

Natalie: Mommy, who am I going to marry?
Me: I don't know...someone very special.
Natalie: Well why can't I marry Landon?
Me: Cause it doesn't work that way.
Natalie: Who is Landon going to marry?
Me: Someone special too.
Landon: No I want to be Woody!
Natalie: No Landon, you need to be a prince!

fall family photos

We had some family photos taken back in mid-October by Sabrina (SABphotography), who is a friend from church. She did a GREAT job! We love the pictures, and we have saved the best one for Christmas cards...so you'll have to wait until then to see it! :)
