I used to be pretty good at this...

I’m not sure what has happened to me. I have not been motivated to write a blog…seriously, is there something wrong??? I am going to blame it on the fact that we don’t have our normal computer. Right now we have hooked up our very old Mac to our internet line and so we are able to get online and check email and do banking stuff but I hate the keyboard and mouse which makes me have NO desire to spend more time then necessary on the computer.

So there.

Things have been C-R-A-Z-Y…but E-X-C-I-T-I-N-G!!!!

Why, you may ask?

No, I am not pregnant (thank goodness) as many of you have probably thought.

But we are adding to our family because WE ARE BUYING OUR FIRST HOME!!! Woo hoo!!!! I can’t tell you how excited we are. Seriously, we have wanted to buy for a long time and for awhile it seemed as though everyone we knew owned their own home except for us. But it seems (I shouldn’t say it SEEMS because we KNOW) the Lord has worked out all the details for us and we are in escrow on a new home and we move in on March 16th!!!

It totally is awesome how God worked this all out…we weren’t going to look for our own home until after Shaun’s residency ends in September. But things are going really well with his job and we had a family from the church approach us about buying their old home. So it got us going on the buying track because everyone has been saying that it’s a “buyer’s market” right now and we should take advantage of it while we can.

We ended up finding our real estate agent, Dave, through some friends in our small group and went out looking just to see what we qualified for. We found a number of homes that we really liked in our price range and most of them were a few years old. We went out for two days (SOOO much fun by the way…I could do that every day!) and we found a house that we LOVED and we were about to put an offer in on it. But before doing that on the end of the second day we decided to drive by a new build community just to see if there was anything in our price range, which we didn’t think there would be. Dave just ran in the office real quick and said they had a spec home left and they had dropped it in price by a LARGE amount and they were willing to drop it even more if we were interested. So we took a look and FELL IN LOVE! It is even bigger than the older one…it is a 2 story 1780 square feet with 3 bedrooms and 2 1/2 baths. Lots of upgrates…nice kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, tile and upgrated shaggy carpet all the way through, tan paint all the way through and the BEST part…a GI-NORMOUS master bed and bath. Gorgeous.

Anyways, tons of incentives included (we basically don’t have to pay a mortgage for the first full year) which means that the Lord has provided not only our own home, but a way to pay off some debt that we’ve wanted to get rid of. WHAT A BLESSING!!!

We are SOOOO excited…and I’ve been wanting to share for awhile but to be honest it really all seems too good to be true and we are still waiting for it to fall through…I don’t know why and there is no reason why it should. We just can’t believe that this is happening to us and how God is blessing us with this home!!!

Move in is in 3 1/2 weeks…I have a lot of work ahead of me.

So on to other things…

Natalie is getting SO big. She really is a little girl now, no longer a baby. She is pulling herself up onto and into everything. She stands up by herself and balances for up to 20 seconds. She still is a petite little monkey…I think she weighs about 17 pounds or so but she sure is a big girl. I can’t BELIEVE she is almost a year old. I’ve been thinking about her birthday party already…only about 6 weeks away! We’ll be all moved in and have a huge bash for her…you’re all invited, of course. =)

Weight Watchers…I lost 13 pounds before December and then put it on hold over the Christmas season. So much was going on over the course of Christmas, going to Mexico, working, and now buying a home that I never really had the motivation to continue. I did gain about 2 pounds back but I have started again as of last week. It’s going okay although I find myself extra hungry this week because I have a certain friend visiting which makes me want to eat all day! I don’t know why I call her my “friend”…more like an “enemy”…

My Opa is really not doing well…there have been many close calls these last weeks and they don’t think it will be long before he’s gone. Mixed emotions about this…I want him here (as the old Opa I knew and loved before his stroke 10 years ago) but I want him to be with Jesus and free from his suffering. He kept his promise to me though and met my first child…for that I am so grateful. =)

Natalie is standing in her crib playing with the blinds as I write this. She gets impatient in the office/her bedroom when I’m on the computer and starts pulling at all the computer cables and gets into all the papers she shouldn’t be in (which I shouldn’t have left on the floor anyways…). Another reason for my lack of bloggage.

But in our NEW house we will have her bedroom separate from the computer which means I will be able to blog while she’s napping. This will be wonderful.

I’m sorry to all you blog friends who I haven’t communicated with over the last bit…I am back now…although these next few weeks I may be scarce due to the moving thing…but after that I will be back more often. I promise.

  10. that is great news! I know what you mean when it feels like you’re the only one renting, I was so excited to buy a home.

And the delayed payments sound like a dream too. I was warned about the first year of home ownership being the ‘worst” and it is true. Everything adds up so quickly. But it is great. And you can paint/nail anything you want.

enjoy! can’t wait to see pictures.
