two weeks old!

Sweet Koen is already two weeks old...time is flying by...although maybe it is partly a blur from being awake at all moments of the night and day. :)

We are doing good! Tomorrow is Koen's 2 week check-up so I will be back with updates on his weight and length. I think he must be around 7.5 pounds by now, at least I am hoping! He is eating really well. We are trying to get on a 2.5 to 3 hour schedule, but today he has been hungry! I'm not sure if it's a growth spurt already?! Either way, I spent much of the day nursing and cuddling my little boy.

Landon was using his asthma puffer thingy (I forget what it's called at the moment...I think my brain cells are being sucked out through breast milk) to take a closer look at his baby brother. I just LOVE these shots.

This morning we *attempted* to take some pictures of our three kiddos. Let's just say it is DIFFICULT to get them all to sit still, look at the camera, and smile...well, we don't expect that from Koen, quite yet. :)

9 days old

We got home from the hospital just a few minutes after my parents arrived from the airport. I would have loved for them to be able to come see us at the hospital, but flight times didn't work out. So the next best thing was having them be there when we got home!

I mentioned earlier that I was GBS positive...in most cases they typically try to get in two doses of antibiotics before the birth and everything is fine. But in my case the labor went so quickly that they were only able to get in one dose of the antibiotics. Because of this they wanted to keep Koen in the hospital for 48 hours to monitor him and make sure he was okay. Thursday morning his pediatrician came by to check him and said he looked "perfect" and if it wasn't for the GBS he would've let us go home that day already...which would've been nice. :) Instead they kept us until Friday after dinner (not quite 48 hours after birth, but close enough).

Friday morning I was already discharged, but I had to wait for Koen. The labor and delivery ward got so full that they actually had to move us to a triage room, which was a smaller room right off the waiting room. I was planning on napping during the afternoon, but it was SO loud from all the waiting room noise...so much for that. Shaun and the kids came back to pick us up around 5pm. We were all anxious to get home and start the new crazy chaos of our lives!

Shaun spent the night with Koen and I at the hospital, and then on Thursday morning he went over to pick up the kids from the Alexander's. First they made a stop at Walmart and each picked out a small stuffed animal for Koen, and then they came over to the hospital. It was such a special moment introducing Nat and Land to their new sibling.

Shaun then took the kids home for naps (everyone was tired!) and then they came back later to eat dinner together and get a few more cuddles with their new brother.

Natalie is such a little Mommy!

Landon was so excited too...I was pretty worried about how he would react, but he just followed after his sister's excitement. He said Koen is "so tiny" and "so cute!"
