So Shaun & I got back yesterday afternoon from a wonderful 3 night getaway to Sedona. It was an awesome, much needed, relaxing time together! I had never been there before and was amazed by the Red Rocks. It is definitely a must-see!
My parents flew in Thursday night around dinner and drove over in their rental car to our place. We had a quick dinner together and filled them in on all of Natalie’s details and then we headed out. Sedona is only about 2 hours from where we live, but since we left late we didn’t get in until around 11pm. We checked into our hotel (the Hilton Sedona Resort & Spa) and Shaun was starving. Sedona is not a night-life type of town so we had a bit of trouble finding some food for him. We ended up heading down to a bar where they served burgers until 2am…turns out it was Karaoke night. It ended up being one of those experiences that we will forever talk about…awkward moments of awful singing…but the food was good!
Since we arrived when it was dark we awoke Friday morning to beauty outside our hotel window…

We had a tasty breakfast at the hotel then headed out to drive around to check out the Red Rocks and see downtown Sedona. We spent some time at Chapel on the Hill, which was built right out of the rocks. It was gorgeous.

(18 Weeks )
In the evening we went to see an early movie and then were planning on going to a late dinner after the movie. We saw “Dan In Real Life”…it was really really good. I bawled my eyes out (of course, there isn’t much to get me bawling my eyes out these days)…it was cute, romantic, funny. Just an all around good movie. After the movie we headed down to our restaurant of choice, but we were disappointed to find it had closed 15 minutes earlier. Seriously, closed at 8:30pm on a Friday night?!?! Like I said, Sedona does not have a night life! We ended up heading back to the hotel for dinner because they were open until 9:30…we ended up getting lame service (because they were ready to leave) and food that was way overpriced. =(
Saturday morning we slept in (until 10am!!!)…then headed over to a small bakery for some lattes and pastries. Yummm! We then went on an hour and a half hike up Bell Rock.

It was beautiful…something very not-us…we aren’t really “hikers”. But I was proud of us…it was fun and so great to get out in the fresh air and see God’s creation.

We then headed over to Tlaquepaque (Teh-lockey-pockey) which is an arts & crafts village in Sedona. They have an AMAZING restaurant that had been recommended by a number of people…the Oak Creek Brewery & Grill. It was VERY good. We shared beer-battered onion rings, Shaun had ribs, and I had a grilled chicken sandwich. Very tasty. Just thinking about the food makes me hungry right now!
In the late afternoon we had scheduled our spa appointment…a 60 minute couple’s massage in the Hilton spa. It was so great…we spent a couple hours before using the spa amenities…the hot tub (well, Shaun used this more then me!), the quiet room, steam room (again, Shaun). Then we went in for the massage…I got a prenatal massage and Shaun a Swedish type massage. It was Shaun’s first massage ever and I think he’s hooked. =)
We were scheduled for another late dinner (we didn’t get out of the spa until 7:30) so we ended up finding out about an Italian place open until 10pm (I know, shocker for Sedona!)…it turned out to be okay food but amazing atmosphere.

Sunday morning we were actually quite anxious to get home…I was dying to see Natalie…we just missed her so much! I think everytime I thought about her I cried. =) We know she was in great hands but we couldn’t help but want to be with her!

So we’re back to normal life…my parents spent the night here last night and early this morning my Mom, Shaun & I headed out for my 18 week ultrasound. We took 2 cars…Shaun was going to take our Xterra straight to work after the ultrasound, so I drove my Mom & I in their rental car. I went through a pothole just before getting on the freeway…and about 5 miles later I realized we had a flat tire. Lovely. Luckily my amazingly HOT manly husband was behind us and changed the tire for us…but we had to cancel our appointment, which was rescheduled for this afternoon. I need to scan those pics but I will hopefully get those up for you all tonight…then you can see our beautiful baby. =)
Alright…this is the longest blog ever…I hope I haven’t bored you all!

Try as I may, I can’t make out anything. Maybe the other pictures will be slightly more clear. Regardless, ultrasounds are amazing. the 3D ones are even better. I am always in awe when I see a completed little person that is so tiny and growing inside of me.
Having Natalie must also overwhelm you with how much you already know you’re going to love this one. Each child is so special.
Kristal, we loved the Chris Tomlin concert as well. Louie did an amazing job!!! Have a great day, enjoy having your parents close by!
Louie speaks at out church all the time, he is great. I love the picture,
Yea! Baby Sawyer #2! So, it hit me in a new way the other day that we will be having babies together!!! It’s just so unreal. So, I bought matching outfits for our two Little Ones. Can’t wait to see you again, Kristal! We leave here in 4 weeks today
